'Museum Party!' celebrates graphic language exhibit, offers two ticket options

The University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) is hosting its annual "Museum Party!" on Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Iowa Memorial Union's Main Lounge. This year's event celebrates a cutting-edge exhibition of original comic art, located in the Black Box Theater on the IMU's third floor. The exhibit will be open for party-goers.

The event is open to the public, and for the first time, the UIMA is offering two ticket options. Guests may choose a ticket for a wine reception and a formal, sit-down dinner, with a bash to follow, for the price of $125. The other option is to attend just the after-dinner bash, which includes an evening of music spun by DJ Doug Roberson, unique photo opportunities, and light hors d'oeuvres and dessert for $35. The wine reception and dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. The bash begins at 8 p.m. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.

For reservations, call 319-335-1725. For those not able to attend the event, donations are welcome.

Organized by the UIMA Members Council, the "Museum Party!" provides annual private support for exhibitions, programs, and activities through sponsorship opportunities. Guests will learn about the UIMA's plans for 2012 and can choose one or more projects or artworks to sponsor, either through an outright gift or a pledge paid over the year.

Dick and Mary Jo Stanley of Muscatine will be the honorary chairs for the event. The Stanleys are major supporters of the UIMA, most recently donating major gifts to the Stanley Collection of African Art.

"Museum Party!" committee chairs are Scott Finlayson and Kay Irelan. Integrated DNA Technologies is the sponsor, along with hosts Alan and Liz Swanson, Gerald and Leesa Elseman, Gerry Ambrose and Kristin Hardy, H. Dee and Myrene Hoover, Hayes Lorenzen Lawyers, PLC; Kristin Summerwill, Lowell Doud, Margaret C. Clancy, Mary Westbrook, Neumann Monson Architects, Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Phelan, Tucker, Mullen, Walker, Tucker & Gelman, L.L.P., Pleasant Valley Flower Shoppe, Rob and Paulina Muzzin, Rohrbach Associates PC Architects, and Shive-Hattery, Architecture-Engineering.
