Indiana Executive Vice Chancellor Sukhatme third of three provost finalists
Uday Sukhatme, professor, executive vice chancellor and dean of the faculties at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis, will meet with University of Iowa faculty, staff, students and administration leaders and participate in a public forum Wednesday, May 4 as a finalist for the provost position.
The third of three finalists, Sukhatme will take part in a forum at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Iowa Memorial Union's Bijou Theater. He will give a 20- to 25-minute presentation before taking questions from the audience. Members of the university community are encouraged to attend.
Sukhatme has served in his current position since 2006. Previously he served as dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at State University of New York at Buffalo, and as professor of physics, department head, associate vice chancellor and vice provost at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Sukhatme has a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Delhi, and Bachelor of Science and Doctorate of Science degrees in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Interim UI Provost Patrick Barry Butler and Yash P. Gupta, dean of the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., interviewed and participated in forums on campus April 26 and April 29, respectively.
