At A Glance

Wright, former Writers' Workshop faculty member, wins Critics Circle Award

C.D. Wright, who was a visiting faculty member in the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1997, is the winner of the 2011 National Book Critics Circle Award for "One with Others: [a little book of her days]". The winners were announced March 10 at the New School in New York City.

She has published numerous collections of poetry and prose, including "Steal Away, Selected and New Poems," "One Big Self: Prisoners of Louisiana" with photographer Deborah Luster and a work in prose, "Cooling Time: An American Poetry Vigil." Her "String Light" won the 1992 Poetry Center Book Award given by San Francisco State University, and her poems and essays have appeared in many magazines.

Her many honors include National Endowment for the Arts, Guggenheim and MacArthur fellowships. She teaches at Brown University.
