Northwest Iowa Community College partners with UI to provide bachelor degrees

Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) and the University of Iowa have partnered to bring UI coursework and degrees to NCC starting in fall 2011. UI President Sally Mason and NCC President Alethea Stubbe formalized the partnership today, Thursday, July 14th, during a signing ceremony on the NCC campus in Sheldon. This is the 12th such partnership that the UI has created with a community college across the state.

Students who complete their Associate in Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or Associate of Arts (AA) degrees may continue their education by enrolling in a UI degree program. NCC graduates may choose from four degree options: the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), the Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS), the Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) and the RN-BSN degree.

The partnership also allows NCC students the option to pursue five different tracks within the Bachelor of Applied Studies degree -- general studies, nonprofit management certificate, the entrepreneurial management certificate, human relations and political science. UI Division of Continuing Education advisors will visit NCC as well as provide online support to help students plan a course of study to achieve their educational goals.
