Local student named Tippie Outstanding Scholar at University of Iowa

(Student name) of (hometown) has been selected as a Tippie Outstanding Scholar by the University of Iowa Henry B. Tippie College of Business and is one 35 entering first-year students who have been awarded more than $57,000 in scholarships for fall 2011.

(Student last name) met the academic criteria to become a member of a select group of first-year students admitted directly to the Tippie College of Business. Direct admission students compete for first-year scholarships and winners are chosen based on academic merit and demonstrated participation in extracurricular, leadership and service activities. Only three Tippie Outstanding Scholar awards are awarded each year and these scholarships are renewable for up to four years or graduation, whichever comes first, provided the students maintain a high level of academic performance and remain enrolled in the Tippie College of Business.
