Old Capitol Museum 'Night at Old Cap: A German Holiday on the Prairie' Dec. 15

The University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum will host another "Night at Old Cap" from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, in the Museum's Hanson Family Humanities Gallery and the Discovery Center. This free, public program caters to children age four and older.

A diverse group of immigrants settled in Iowa in the mid-1800s and brought an array of holiday traditions. This program will explore winter holiday traditions from Germany by making special decorations, including a special holiday ornament. There will be traditional German cookies for the entire family to enjoy.

The Old Capitol Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museum is closed Mondays and national holidays. For more information, visit, call 319-335-0546, or email
