Recreational Services offers tennis lessons for all ages starting Sept. 11

University of Iowa Recreational Services is offering tennis lessons for all ages beginning the week of Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

Adult classes will cover basic strokes and strategy with drills and play. Fees for Recreational Services members are $78; nonmember $90. Beginner classes meet Sundays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while beginner/intermediate lessons are Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Intermediate lessons are Sundays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information on adult lessons visit

There are multiple levels available for kids of all ages: Tots (ages 4-5), Herky (ages 5-7), Black I (ages 8-12), Black II (ages 8-12), Gold I (8-12), Hawk I (ages 12-18), and Gold II (ages 13-18).

New this year is the Hawkeye Tennis Academy for more advanced students to play in United States Tennis Association tournaments. The classes are: Academy Level 3 (ages 7-12), Academy Level 2 (ages 9-16) and Academy Level 1 (ages 13-18).
