Walmart and Coke host Winter Wonderland Party at UI Children's Hospital

Walmart associates from around the state hosted the inaugural Winter Wonderland party at University of Iowa Children's Hospital on Dec. 16.

Walmart provided 10 different craft activities and cookie decorating for over 100 patients, siblings and families to enjoy. Coca-Cola supplied beverages and the Coke Polar Bear for photo opportunities.

Scot Kersten, Walmart market manager, said the event, which he hopes will become an annual tradition, was designed to help children who don't get to enjoy the normal holiday events.

Walmart is the largest donor to UI Children's Hospital, contributing over $8.9 million since 1987. They have funded a 16-room guesthouse, pediatric inpatient renovation, pediatric catheterization lab, NICU Bay-5 and most recently, the state's only pediatric dialysis unit.
