Update: Crane work to be done on Cleary Walkway Dec. 15

A crane setting project just north of Calvin Hall on the T. Anne Cleary Walkway has been rescheduled for today, Wednesday, Dec. 15. Woodruff Construction will be setting the crane to facilitate the installation of an air handler for the Calvin Hall HVAC replacement project.

The work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. (weather permitting) at the south end of the walkway between Jefferson and Market streets. The work area will be cordoned off. Pedestrian traffic through the walkway will be restricted in lane width but will not be fully impeded.

Storytime Explorers to read 'Ice Age' tales at Museum of Natural History on Dec. 19

Children and families are invited to a story reading at the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. Museum staff will read “Ice Age” tales in Iowa Hall. Afterward, children will be able to complete a themed craft.
The reading is part of the Museum of Natural History’s monthly Storytime Explorers Series, which includes readings and activities that allow elementary-aged children and their families to explore animals and the environments around Iowa and the world.
All Storytime Explorers events take place at the Museum of Natural History and begin at 2 p.m. They are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

Campus Recreation and Wellness Center extends morning hours

Recreational Services is extending the hours of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) to better accommodate early morning workouts. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 18, the facility will open at 5:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. All other building hours will remain the same, including late night hours at the CRWC Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Recreational Services members have access to the fitness and weight equipment, track, basketball/volleyball courts, steam room, and sauna. The leisure pool, lap swimming, rock climbing wall, and free group exercise classes are also available to members during certain hours.
