UI Department of Health and Sport Studies awards scholarships

The University of Iowa Department of Health and Sport Studies has awarded 12 undergraduate students and 13 graduate students scholarships for exemplary academic performance. Students will receive the scholarships, totaling more than $89,000 for the 2010-11 academic year.

The scholarships are funded by donations from former faculty and graduates. Recipients will be honored Thursday, May 6, at an on-campus awards ceremony.

The UI Department of Health and Sport Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers programs of study that focus on health, sport and physical activity as they are influenced by cultural, psychological and behavioral factors. Graduates go on to careers in teaching, research, health promotion, commercial fitness enterprises, coaching, sport journalism and sport management.

Students are listed alphabetically by hometown.

The undergraduate recipients of the scholarships are:
