Man Martin reads from his award-winning novel July 9

Man Martin will read from his debut novel, "Days of the Endless Corvette," at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in the Prairie Lights bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City. The free event will be streamed live and then archived on the Writing University website of the University of Iowa:

The story unfolds in the leisurely manner of Southern tall tales: Earl, a kindhearted Georgia mechanic, is in love with the bookish girl-next-door, who discovers that she is pregnant with the child of her previous boyfriend.

Martin, who teaches high school English and coaches debate, was the 2008 Georgia Author of the Year. For seven years he wrote and drew the comic strip "Sibling Revelry" for Universal Press Syndicate.
