Project to close inside eastbound lane of Highway 6 near Woolf Avenue bridge
A construction project on the University of Iowa campus will close the inside eastbound lane of Hwy 6 (Riverside Drive) from the Woolf Avenue bridge to the intersection with Iowa Avenue.
The lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12. The project, which will conclude Jan. 23, will replace an underground pipe. Contact UI Facilities Management at 319-335-5500 with any questions or concerns.
Osher Institute offers 'Behind the Scenes' for Elling concert
Registration remains open for "Behind the Scenes with 'Dedicated to You: Kurt Elling Sings Coltrane/Hartman,'" available through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Iowa Center on Aging.
Local jazz expert Robert Naujoks will lead a discussion on Kurt Elling, called "the preeminent male jazz singer of our time" by CD Review, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in room 1121 of the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF) on the west side of the UI campus. Elling's performance, presented by Hancher Auditorium, will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Englert Theatre in downtown Iowa City.
The cost is $45, which includes the Jan. 23 pre-performance discussion and a Zone 1 (main floor or center balcony) ticket to the Jan. 24 concert.
