Somek discusses the law and trust in Austrian appearances

Alexander Somek, professor of law at the University of Iowa, discussed a forum he is teaching in Austria this week about laws and trusts as a guest on a call-in radio show on Austrian public radio.

Somek is co-teaching a seminar about law and trust at the European Forum Alpbach in Austria and appeared in advance of the session on the Austria 1 radio station program “From Day to Day” on Aug. 18. Somek discussed how the law helps to establish and to sustain relations of trust, how it regulates the trustworthiness of expertise, and that the law permits people to sustain relations even under conditions of distrust.

The forum is held every year in the Austrian village of Alpbach and brings together speakers and participants from  all parts of the world, from science, economics and politics, experienced experts and students, to discuss the current issues and to formulate interdisciplinary solutions.
