Fine Arts Council sponsors Riverbank Art Fair May 2-3

The University of Iowa's Fine Arts Council is sponsoring the Riverbank Art Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3. The Art Fair will be held at Hubbard Park across from the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) and is free and open to the public.

The Riverbank Art Fair has become a trademark of the Fine Arts Council and provides a financial basis for other programming such as student art grants and exhibitions. Artists from across the Midwest apply and are selected through a jury process to exhibit and sell fine art at the fair. This year over 50 artists will be featured, exhibiting and selling original works in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, jewelry, metal, fiber and much more.

The Fine Arts Council is a self-supporting, nonprofit student organization whose members share an interest in promoting the arts at the UI. The Council has been active since 1970 and advocates a full range of art disciplines. While the council is primarily composed of students, membership is open to anyone.

The rain location for the fair is the Main Lounge of the IMU.
