UI Department of Dance presents undergraduate concert April 30-May 2

The University of Iowa Department of Dance will present an undergraduate concert at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 30-May 2, in the Space Place Theatre of UI North Hall.

The hourlong program will feature 11 dances choreographed by undergraduate dance majors, selected at auditions by a faculty adjudication committee of Deanna Carter, Armando Duarte and Eloy Barragan.

--"Tick" by Erin Donohue, set to music by Bjork.
--"The art of Art" by Amy Echols, featuring original music by Echols and C.C. Brown.
--"Love, Doubt Fear" by Kaitlin Schutte, featuring music by Apocalyptica, edited by Brown.
--"Child" by Lindsay Smith, set to poetry by Noite-Werner.
--"A slice of cheese 49 cents" by Samantha Cremer and Nicole Klein, featuring music by Brown, Pink Floyd and the Vitamin String Quartet's tribute to Muse.
--"Feint of heart" by Amy Jacobus, set to music by J.J. Cale and Aphex Twin.
--"Abschied" by Miranda Mallard, featuring live piano music by Schubert, J.S. Bach and Mozart.
--"Eminent Release" by Krista Mills, set to the Vitamin String Quartet's adaptation of "Something I Can Never Have" by Nine Inch Nails.
--"Hoppipolla" by Sarah Kikis, featuring music by Sigur Ros.
--"Flexed Contention" by Jenifer Kerber, with music by the Shins.
--"Monsieur" by Trevor Szuba-Schneiber, featuring music by Lully, as interpreted by an advanced script by MURCOF.

The productions feature lighting design by Jim Albert.

Admission will be $12; UI students and youth $6.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from the University Box Office in the Iowa Memorial Union. In addition to window sales at the Iowa Memorial Union, the University Box Office may be reached by phone at 319-335-3041 or toll-free 800-346-4401. The fax number is 319-335-3407. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. In addition to cash and checks, the University Box Office accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover cards.

Any remaining tickets will be on sale at the door.

The Department of Dance and the School of Music are units in the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
