MEDIA ADVISORY: UI experts to testify on proposed alcohol establishment zoning change

WHAT: Two University of Iowa experts will provide research data about the relationship between alcohol outlet density, alcohol consumption and alcohol-related negative consequences during a presentation before the Iowa City Planning and Zoning Commission. The commission is considering an amendment to the city's code that would establish minimum spacing requirements between establishments that serve or sell alcohol.

WHO: Peter Nathan, UI professor emeritus of community and behavioral health, former UI provost and former interim UI president; and Sarah Hansen, associate director for education with UI Student Health Service.

WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16.

WHERE: Iowa City City Hall council chambers.
