Writers' Workshop alumnus Scibona wins Young Lions Fiction Award
Salvatore Scibona, an alumnus of the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, is the 2009 winner of the Young Lions Fiction Award from the New York Public Library for his debut novel "The End." Workshop alumna Sana Krasnikov was one of the five finalists for her short-story collection "One More Year."
"The End," a story is about a single day in 1953 as lived by six people at an Ohio carnival, was also a finalist for the National Book Award.
The Young Lions Fiction Award was established in 2001 by the Young Lions, a membership group for supporters of the library in their 20s and 30s. It is the only major book prize that recognizes fiction by younger writers -- 35 or younger -- and includes a $10,000 prize for the award recipient and $1,000 for the other finalists.

Film on social impact of pornography will be screened April 22
A screening of "The Price of Pleasure: Pornography, Sexuality, and Relationships" is set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in Room 101 of the Becker Communication Studies Building.
