UI Arts Share program is now scheduling 2008-09 events
Arts Share, the University of Iowa outreach program that sends faculty and graduate-student artists to schools and communities throughout the state, is now scheduling events for the 2008-09 season.
A brochure that includes a scheduling request form is available from the Arts Share office at 319-335-1618 or email@example.com. Information about available programs and online forms are also available at the Arts Share Web site http://www.uiowa.edu/artsshare.
The goal of Arts Share is to strengthen the arts in underserved areas and to provide access to life-enriching arts experiences throughout Iowa. To serve that goal, Arts Share makes artists available in music, theater, dance, the visual arts and creative writing. The available activities range from workshops to ensemble coaching to concerts to lectures -- and even special, custom-designed projects.
The 2008-09 Arts Share roster features nearly 100 individual artists and ensembles, with options to fit a variety of needs and budgets. Many schools have scheduled several Arts Share artists to create a concentrated arts day, or have engaged an artist to make multiple visits, enabling their guidance of long-term projects.
In the wake of the 2008 floods, the program will also invite area schools to a variety of free concerts in a variety of locations.
Arts Share sponsors for 2008-09 include Alliant Energy Foundation and the Johnson & Johnson/Society for the Arts in Healthcare.
Arts Share is a unit of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
