Iowa Law School Foundation board elects new members
The Iowa Law School Foundation (ILSF) board of directors elected five new members at its September 2008 meeting.
Newly elected members include Elizabeth R. Boyd, J.D., of St. Paul, Minn.; Daniel D. Crouse, J.D., of Seattle, Wash.; Charles H. Dick, J.D., of La Jolla, Calif.; Robert J. Loots, J.D., of Mequon, Wisc.; and Dempsey J. Prappas, J.D., of Houston, Texas. All but Prappas are alumni of the University of Iowa College of Law.
In addition, Casey Mahon, J.D., of Iowa City, was elected a lifetime honorary member of the ILSF board of directors.
Boyd obtained her undergraduate degree from Sweet Briar College in Virginia and her J.D. degree in 1987 from the UI. She is the planned giving officer for the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library.
Crouse holds a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University and received a J.D. degree in 1985 from the UI. He is a retired deputy general counsel with Microsoft Corporation.
Dick received a B.A. degree (1964) and a J.D. degree (1967) from the UI. He is a partner in the Baker & McKenzie law firm in La Jolla, Calif. specializing in civil trial practice, and is the chair of the firm's North American Litigation Practice Group. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Loots received a B.A. degree (1953) and a J.D. degree (1958) from the UI. He is senior shareholder with von Briesen & Roper, s.c., in Milwaukee, Wisc. He is a fellow of the College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
Prappas received a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan in 1949 and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas in 1952. He has been a practicing corporate attorney for 56 years. For 25 years he was the senior partner of his own firm with 17 other attorneys.
Mahon, J.D., received a B.A. degree (1973) and a J.D. degree (1976) from the UI. She is the retired senior vice president and general counsel for McLeodUSA.
