UI pharmacy students plan events for American Pharmacists Month
University of Iowa College of Pharmacy students will take part in several events in October in recognition of American Pharmacists Month.
Flu-shot clinics will be offered, in conjunction with host pharmacies, at the following times, dates and locations:
--CEDAR RAPIDS: 8 a.m to noon Thursday, Oct. 9; Tuesday, Oct. 14; and Thursday, Oct. 16, at Hy-Vee, 5050 Edgewood Rd. NE in Cedar Rapids.
--CORALVILLE: Noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Walgreens, 2751 Heartland Drive in Coralville.
--CORALVILLE: Noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Walgreens, 102 2nd St. in Coralville.
--IOWA CITY: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Hartig Drug, 701 Mormon Trek Blvd. in Iowa City.
Also, a Mini-Health Fair will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Liberty Pharmacy, 555 W. Cherry St. in North Liberty. Flu shots, diabetes screenings, heartburn-awareness counseling and bone density screenings will be available.
The flu-shot clinics and Mini-Health Fair are open to the public.
UI pharmacy students also will hold diabetes screenings Fridays, Oct. 10 and 17, at City High School in Iowa City for high school students taking health classes.
In addition, the UI students will offer heartburn-awareness counseling from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, for employees at Aegon in Cedar Rapids.
