MEDIA ADVISORY: News briefing May 27 on Commonwealth Fund report
WHAT: A news briefing to address the Commonwealth Fund's release of a state-by-state health system "scorecard" on children's health.
WHO: Jean Robillard, M.D., UI vice president for medical affairs; Tom Newton, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health; and Michael Artman, M.D., physician-in-chief at UI Children's Hospital.
Other possible attendees include Iowa's state and federal legislators; members of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa; state health officials and policy experts; and UI leaders.
WHEN: Noon Tuesday, May 27, 2008 (Remarks from Iowa officials will follow the Commonwealth Fund's scheduled telebriefing).
WHERE: Clasen Board Room, located in the executive offices at UI Hospitals and Clinics (first floor, John Colloton Pavilion).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: At noon on May 27, representatives from the Commonwealth Fund will hold a telebriefing to discuss a new report, "U.S. Variations in Child Health System Performance: A State Scorecard." The report ranks states on indicators that encompass children's health care access, quality, costs, equity and outcomes.
Following the telebriefing, UI and state leaders will discuss Iowa's ranking according to the Commonwealth Fund scorecard.
Reporters are invited to listen/participate in the Commonwealth Fund telebriefing by speakerphone in the Clasen Board Room (participation in the telebriefing is for the news media only).
A mult-box for broadcast media will be available for the post-telebriefing remarks.
