UI Hospitals and Clinics to honor nurses May 6-12
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City will honor the skill and service of its nursing specialists during Nurses Week May 6-12.
Approximately 1,850 nursing professionals work at UI Hospital and Clinics, the state's only comprehensive academic health center. The hospital received the prestigious Magnet Hospital Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2004, the first hospital in Iowa to earn the international award.
Singer-songwriter P.J. Olsson to perform on 'Java Blend' May 9
Acclaimed singer-songwriter P.J. Olsson will perform live on the Iowa Public Radio performance series Java Blend from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the Java House in downtown Iowa City.
Tagged a "neo-troubadour" by Wired Magazine, Olsson's music has been featured on a number of hit television shows such as "CSI New York," "NCIS," "The Unit," and "The Ghost Whisperer."
The hour-long, free show originates from WSUI-AM 910 and will be recorded for broadcast Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, across the state on Iowa Public Radio.
UI Hospitals and Clinics to celebrate National Hospital Week May 12-16
Faculty, staff and volunteers at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City will celebrate National Hospital Week May 12-16.
The week's activities include the unveiling of the Magnet Quilt at 3 p.m. Monday, May 12, in the Level 1 lobby of the John Pappajohn Pavilion; displays throughout the hospital; the UI Women's Health Day Celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14; and special events for faculty, staff and volunteers all week long.
