Opera Studies Group hosts Saylor for March 7 lecture
The University of Iowa Opera Studies Group, in collaboration with UI International Programs and the UI School of Music Musicology and Theory Colloquium, will host Eric Saylor, assistant professor of music history at Drake University, as part of the "America and The Operatic Tradition" Lecture Series. Saylor will present "'I don't believe in realism': Imagining the African-American in Frederick Delius's Koanga" at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 7 in Room 1027 of the UI Voxman Music Building.

Natural disasters in Bangladesh topic of March 10 International Mondays
Luke Juran, a University of Iowa doctoral student in geography, will present "Coping with Natural Disasters in Bangladesh" as part of the International Mondays lecture series sponsored by UI International Programs. The presentation takes place from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, in Meeting Room A of the Iowa City Public Library.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. March 15 deadline for Iowa Gallup Award for Excellent Journalism Using Polls
Entries for the 2007 Iowa Gallup Award for Excellent Journalism Using Polls will be accepted through March 15, 2008. Stories must be original and broadcast or published in print or online between Jan. 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2007. News organizations and professional pollsters are invited to nominate stories.
The Iowa Gallup Award recognizes the importance of the news media's use of polls in understanding public opinion and shaping discourse on social and political issues. The annual award is co-sponsored by the University of Iowa School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Gallup Organization.
