Mike Mangione to perform on 'Java Blend' Aug. 1

Mike Mangione, a Chicago-born acoustic folk rock artist, will perform live as part of the Iowa Public Radio performance series Java Blend from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Java House in downtown Iowa City.

Mangione and his band, now based in Milwaukee, create music that emphasizes tone both lyrically and instrumentally. They were selected as New York Magazine's pick of the week. "Tenebrae" is the groups' latest album.

The free show originates from WSUI-AM 910 and will be recorded for broadcast Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sunday, Aug. 17, across the state on Iowa Public Radio. For more information see and
