Poison Control Center to perform on 'Java Blend' Jan. 18

The Ames-based power pop band, The Poison Control Center, will perform live as part of the Iowa Public Radio performance series Java Blend at noon on Friday, Jan. 18, at the Java House in downtown Iowa City.

The Poison Control Center has been playing power pop and post-punk music around the country for the last six years. They've received national press for their live shows and have been featured on National Public Radio. Recently, the band released their national debut, full-length album, "A Collage of Impressions" on Afternoon Records. For this show, they will give Java Blend's listeners a rare full band acoustic performance.

The public is invited to be part of the live audience for the hour-long, free show, which originates from the University of Iowa's radio station WSUI-AM 910. "Java Blend" will be recorded for broadcast Saturday, Feb. 2, and Sunday, Feb. 3, across the state on Iowa Public Radio. For broadcast times and stations, see
