Mowrer, Pioneer Hi-Bred receive I-CASH Hall of Fame Awards

Iowa's Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, based in the UI College of Public Health, has named Teresa Mowrer of Guthrie Center, Iowa and Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, recipients of its 2008 Hall of Fame Award.

Mowrer organizes the Guthrie County Progressive Agriculture Farm Safety Days, which provides farm safety education for nearly 250 children each year. Pioneer has supported programs such as the 1987 "Agriculture at Risk" conference, Farm Safety 4 Just Kids, the Progressive Agriculture Safety Foundation, Certified Safe Farms, the AgriSafe Network and the Center for International Rural Environmental Health.

Mowrer received the award Aug. 7 during the WOI-AM midday radio show that aired live from the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. Pioneer will receive its award at 11 a.m. Aug. 14, also during WOI's radio program at the State Fair.

Corridor Media Group hosts Aug. 15 open house to celebrate new location

A recent graduate company of the University of Iowa Technology Innovation Center, Corridor Media Group Inc., will hold an open house to celebrate its new location in Coralville's River Landing development. The celebration will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, with a program at 2 p.m. Lunch will be served from noon to 1 p.m., and refreshments will be provided throughout the afternoon. All events are free and open to the public.

UI Associate Vice President for Economic Development Thomas R. Sharpe will be one of the featured speakers. Corridor Media Group Inc. is a parent company of the Corridor Business Journal, a business weekly serving Iowa's Corridor area, including Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Marion and Coralville, and, an online magazine founded in 2008 that provide arts and entertainment news and reviews for the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor.

The Technology Innovation Center is the UI business incubator, which fosters the development of new business ventures that make use of advanced technology.
