Genetic counseling to be discussed at 'Finding God at Iowa' lunch forum May 2
At the next "Finding God at Iowa" lunch forum, Lih Yeen Tan, a genetic counselor at the Children's Hospital of Iowa, will present "The Human Dilemmas of Genetics and Genetic Counseling" from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, in River Room 1 at the Iowa Memorial Union.
According to UI Healthcare's Web site, genetic counseling can help people who are concerned about passing a genetic disorder to their child, or who are concerned about the possibility of having a child with a birth defect.
The "Finding God at Iowa" forum, sponsored by Geneva Campus Ministry, provides an opportunity for Christians and others to discuss how Christian faith impacts people's lives, their work, and their response to issues on campus and in society. The forum is held on the first Friday of every month during the regular school year. Speakers are faculty, staff and students at the UI.
Tan's presentation will be followed by discussion. Attendees may bring a sack lunch or order lunch from the River Room Café.
