'Tough Guise' to be shown Oct. 2 in Currier Hall

As part of the 2007 Series on Sexual Assault and Healthy Relationships, University Housing Office of Residence Life will show the movie "Tough Guise" at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Currier Hall's Van Oel Room.

"Tough Guise: Violence, Media & the Crisis in Masculinity" is an educational video geared toward college students that examines the relationship between pop-culture imagery and the construction of male identities in the United States. A discussion will follow the movie.

The video is narrated by Jackson Katz, the founder and director of MVP Strategies, an organization that provides gender violence prevention training to colleges, high schools, professional and college sports teams, community groups, corporations, and the U.S. military.

The event is sponsored by the University Housing Office of Residence Life and the University Counseling Center.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in any of the programs, please contact the Office of Residence Life at 319-335-3700.
