Sept. 24, 2007

University Theatres Gallery series opens Sept. 27-30 with 'The Beguiled'

The University Theatres Gallery series -- primarily plays written and directed by students -- will open its season with Matthew Benyo's romantic thriller "The Beguiled," at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 27 to 29, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the David Thayer Theatre of the University of Iowa Theatre Building.

In this play, directed by Patrick Ashcraft, a lonely outsider is seduced into a cult, where he is forced to embark on a psychological and emotional journey that causes him to question everything he knows.

Admission is $6 ($4 for UI students) at the door.

The play includes material of an adult nature. Potential audience members who are concerned about whether it is appropriate for them should contact the Department of Theatre Arts, 319-335-2700, for additional information.

The Department of Theatre Arts is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
