UI Welcomes Indian Hills Students to the 2 Plus 2 Transfer Plan
Students at Indian Hills Community College can now take advantage of the University of Iowa's 2 Plus 2 Guaranteed Graduation Plan.
Under the 2 Plus 2 plan, UI advisors help Indian Hills students select the right courses to receive an Associate of Arts degree in two years at their community college and successfully transfer to Iowa, where they can earn a bachelor's degree in just two more years, guaranteed.
The addition of Indian Hills to the 2 Plus 2 program marks the university's continuing efforts to make the program accessible to students at all Iowa community colleges. The UI welcomed more than 1,000 new transfer students from Iowa community colleges throughout 2006-07.
Earlier this year, the university also announced a new $1,000 scholarship for incoming 2 Plus 2 students with the highest grade-point averages. Overall, the 2 Plus 2 program is designed to help ease the transition between schools.
To benefit most from the degree-planning assistance of Iowa's 2 Plus 2 advisors, students are encouraged to enroll in the 2 Plus 2 plan during their first year of community college. High school students also are encouraged to investigate the plan's potential to save them time and money in pursuit of a four-year degree.
In addition to early advising, 2 Plus 2 students enjoy access to UI library and career-planning resources and discounted admission to select UI cultural and athletic events with their Iowa One Card, the official UI student ID.
The 2 Plus 2 plan is currently available to Indian Hills students pursuing about 15 Iowa majors, including business, psychology and social work. The UI will add all Iowa community colleges and more Iowa majors to the plan in the near future.
