Army ROTC cadets sponsor UI/ISU game-ball run Sept. 14

University of Iowa Army ROTC cadets will run from Iowa City to Tama on Friday, Sept. 14, carrying the Iowa/Iowa State game ball.

The traditional intra-state football rivalry between the two schools will be renewed at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.

Between 12 and 15 University of Iowa cadets will depart Iowa City at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, behind Slater Hall on the UI Campus. The UI team will conduct their part of the race over multiple legs, with the final leg consisting of a run from Belle Plaine to Tama. Following the final leg of their run, UI cadets will attend a picnic sponsored by the Tama I Club from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Bridge Park, U.S. Highway 30, located on the east edge of Tama.

At the conclusion of the picnic, the UI cadet team will hand the ball off to Iowa State University cadets, who will move the ball from Tama to Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. Game-ball organizers say that the game-ball run will foster a relationship between the I-Club and Army ROTC.
