Author/artist Marcia Wegman reads at Museum of Natural History Nov. 11

The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History will host a reading and book signing by Iowa City author and artist Marcia Wegman at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

As part of the museum's Safari Story Time program for elementary-aged children, Wegman will read from her children's book "Lula Belle" and display original illustrations from the book. Wegman will be available after the reading for a book signing.

"Lula Belle" follows the story of a raccoon, Lula Belle, and her kits living in Wegman's yard. Wegman photographed, painted, and wrote about these wild creatures. In the process, Wegman had many opportunities to observe and interact with raccoons, who have successfully adapted to city living.

Wegman received a Master of Fine Arts degree in intaglio printmaking, and has since worked in oil, watercolor, acrylic, handmade paper and mixed media collage over a 35-year period.

The reading and book signing are free and open to the public.
