University of Iowa News Release

Nov. 29, 2007

Registration still open for UI Coyote Camp

Looking for an outdoor activity for your child over winter break? Then consider University of Iowa Recreational Services' Coyote Camp at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area Thursday, Dec. 20, to Friday, Dec. 21, or Thursday, Dec. 27, to Friday, Dec. 28.

The two-day Coyote Camps are for 3rd through 6th graders and provide students with a unique opportunity to study and observe the wildlife of the prairies, wetlands, and woodlands of Macbride in a winter setting. Small groups of campers will participate in uniquely designed educational and recreational activities led by a professional staff. Activities include tracking, bird banding, eagle watching, wilderness survival techniques, shelter building and other activities.

The camp is $75 and runs from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Campers will meet at the UI Recreation Building and then ride a bus to the Macbride Nature Recreation Area on Lake Macbride and the Coralville Reservoir north of Iowa City.

For more information about UI Wildlife Camps or to download a registration brochure, visit or call UI Recreational Services at 319-335-9293.
