French diplomat to visit UI campus Nov. 30

François Touazi, diplomatic adviser for emerging countries to the French Minister of Economy, will present two lectures on Friday, Nov. 30 on the University of Iowa campus. Touazi's first lecture, "Challenges and Limits of the EU Common and Foreign Policy Security," will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the International Programs Commons, Room 1117, University Capitol Centre. Lunch will be served. The UI European Studies Group is sponsoring the luncheon and lecture.

The second lecture, "Integration of the Muslim Minorities in France," will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Room 40 of Schaeffer Hall. Touazi will give the lecture in French. The UI Department of French and Italian in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is sponsoring the second lecture.

Both lectures are free and open to the public.

Touazi has served as adviser to the French Minister of Foreign Affairs for North Africa and the Middle East, representative for the department of political affairs and security for the Ministry of Foreign affairs, and head of international cooperation for the General Delegation on International Relations. He received his doctorate from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris.
