Fine Arts Council to sponsor Holiday Thieves' Art Market Dec. 1-2

The University of Iowa's Fine Arts Council is sponsoring the Holiday Thieves' Art Market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, and Sunday, Dec. 2. The market will be held in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union on the UI campus and is free and open to the public.

This year, over 100 artists will be featured, exhibiting and selling original works in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, jewelry, metal, fiber, and much more. Each year artists from all over the Midwest apply and are selected through a jury process to exhibit and sell fine art at the Holiday Thieves' Art Market. The event has become a trademark of the Fine Arts Council and provides a financial basis for other programming such as student art grants and exhibitions.

The Fine Arts Council is a self-supporting, nonprofit student organization whose members share an interest in promoting the arts at the UI. The council has been active since 1970 and advocates a full range of art disciplines. While the council is primarily composed of students, membership is open to anyone willing to contribute ideas, time, and energy to promoting the arts at the university. For more information see
