Poets Taransky and Stempleman, UI Writers' Workshop students, to read Nov. 13

Poets Michelle Taransky and Jordan Stempleman, graduate students in the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop, will read from "The City Visible: Chicago Poetry for the New Century," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Prairie Lights bookstore at 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City.

UI writers represented in the anthology -- edited by poets Raymond Bianchi and William Allegrezza -- include Taransky, Srikanth Reddy, Suzzane Buffam, Robyn Schiff and Dan Beachy-Quick. Taransky and Stempleman will read a sampling of these works.

Olivia Cronk wrote for Bookslut, "'The City Visible: Chicago Poetry for the New Century' is a prudent investment for any reader of contemporary poetry . . . the book is a nice, hearty, earnest sampling of interesting poets."

The Writers' Workshop is a graduate program of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
