Author Of Comics To Visit UI As Part Of 50 State Tour May 11

Scott McCloud, author of "Making Comics: Story Telling Secrets of Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels" will visit the University of Iowa for an informal question and answer session from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 11 at the Art Building West in Room 116.

McCloud will make this stop in Iowa City as part of his Making Comics 50 State Tour. He is also the author of the Harvey and Eisner award-winning book "Understanding Comics: The Invisible Story."

The talk is free and open to the public and is organized by Gail Boldt and Rachel Williams, both with the UI College of Education.

During his public conversation, those who have a special interest in learning what goes into making comics will especially enjoying this opportunity, according to Boldt.

"Whether someone wants to talk with Scott about how to create graphic novels, superheroes, neo-manga, comic strips or web comics or simply wants to learn more about what goes into the process, this is a great opportunity to meet Scott in an informal setting," Boldt said.
