Cancer Leader To Discuss Cancer Research Efforts March 22

A leading researcher and cancer expert at the University of Iowa will provide a free, public educational seminar from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, located at 1220 First Ave. in Coralville.

George Weiner, M.D., director of Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa and the C.E. Block Chair of Cancer Research, will discuss cancer clinical trials. Topics will include the research process, separating fact from fiction, recent and ongoing advances, and how to locate a clinical trial that may help you.

Weiner will focus on cancers of the bloodstream and bone marrow, especially leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Iowa chapter and the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center are sponsoring the seminar.
