Old Capitol Museum Presents Flute And Guitar Concert

The Old Capitol Museum at the University of Iowa will present "Duos Galore, A Festival of Music for Flute and Guitar" 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the Senate Chamber of the museum.

The free performance is open to the public and will feature performances by three professional flute and guitar duo participants from Red Cedar Chamber Music's Summer Festival: the Heim Duo from Mobile, Ala., the Janson-Bozenhard Duo from Philadelphia, and the McKenzie Duo from Chicago.

The duos are also attending the Red Cedar Chamber Music's Summer Festival at Cornell College July 15-July 22, studying musicianship and the business of music with flutist Jan Boland and guitarist John Dowdall, the core ensemble of Red Cedar Chamber Music. The Summer Festival is an annual event held at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, which is Red Cedar's official summer home.

"Duos Galore" is a joint presentation of Red Cedar Chamber Music Summer Festival and the Old Capitol Museum. The Summer Festival is presented in collaboration with Cornell College and is sponsored in part by Mount Vernon Bank and Trust.
