Coach To Speak On Christianity, Competition At Iowa Forum

At the next Finding God at Iowa Lunch Forum, Chad Hanson, University of Iowa assistant women's volleyball coach, will talk about the intersection of Christian values and competitive sports. He will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, in River Room No. 1, near the River Room Café in the Iowa Memorial Union.

Hanson will address the topic "Can Christians Compete in Today's World? The Biblical Mandate to Love Our Enemies And Be Victorious!" Attendees may buy or bring a lunch. The talk is free and open to the public.

The talk is part of the Finding God at Iowa Lunch Forum series, which meets on the first Friday of every month during the regular school year. Christian faculty, staff, and students speak on how their faith shapes their lives, their work, and their perspectives on university and social issues. The series is sponsored by the Geneva Campus Ministry.

"The goal is not simply to hear an interesting talk, but to connect with others in an informal community of conversation, so we always include time for discussion," says Ed Laarman, director of Geneva Campus Ministry, "Sports are a big part of life on campus, and I am sure that we will have a lively discussion."
