UI Police Release Composite Sketch In Assault Investigation

University of Iowa Police have released a composite sketch of a suspect in an assault Friday on a female student. A high-resolution version of the image is available at

The student told police she was assaulted at about 11:45 p.m. Friday while walking in the parking lot on the south side of the UI Main Library. She said a man came up behind her, shoved her against the fence and covered her mouth. She was able to fight him off and flee.

Based upon interviews with the victim, a composite sketch of the suspect was developed on Monday. The UI Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the person. 

The victim describes the suspect as a black male with a dark complexion, in his 20's, approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall to 6 feet tall, weighting 170 to 200 pounds with black hair. He has an athletic build and wore a dark jacket and black baseball cap.

The UI Police Department is currently investigating this incident. Anyone with information that could aid in this investigation is asked to call the department at 319-335-5022.
