Josh Davis Band To Perform On Iowa Public Radio's 'Java Blend' Show Jan. 26

The Josh Davis Band, a roots rock band from Des Moines, will perform live at noon, Jan. 26 at the Java House, located at 211 E. Washington St. in downtown Iowa City. The public is invited to be part of the live audience for the free show, which will be recorded for broadcast on the "Java Blend" program originating on University of Iowa radio station WSUI-AM 910.

The program will be broadcast Feb. 10 and 11 on Iowa Public Radio stations across the state. For broadcast times, see and scroll to "Java Blend."

Josh Davis has been a singer/songwriter for the past five years, and he has opened for acts such as Dwight Yoakum, Dexter Freebish, and his idol Charlie Robison. In 2004, Jason Walsmith and Mike Butterworth of Des Moines favorites, The Nadas, took an interest in his writing. Then in the spring of 2005, he joined the Nadas' label, Authentic Records. With their help, Davis put together an all-star band consisting of Paul Hart (lead guitar), Brian Totten (drums), and Dustin Baird (bass). The Josh Davis Band's first record, "The White Whale," was released in March 2006.

Hosted by Ben Kieffer, "Java Blend" offers an eclectic mix of live music from the vibrant independent music scene, featuring artists from around the state and around the country. Kieffer infuses the performances with lively chat to find out about the artists' music and lives.

"Java Blend" is taped at noon on Fridays before a live audience at the Java House, located at 211 E. Washington St. in downtown Iowa City. The hour is broadcast statewide multiple times on a future weekend to an estimated 50,000 Iowa Public Radio listeners.
