Herwaldt Will Present Gallery Talk On Photography Exhibition March 8

David Herwaldt, a Master of Fine Arts candidate and an instructor of photography in the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, will lead a gallery talk of the current UI Museum of Art (UIMA) exhibition "Picturing Eden" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8.

The exhibition and gallery talk are free and open to the public.

"Picturing Eden" is an exhibition of more than 130 contemporary photographs in color and in black and white that explores how artists reinterpret and re-envision concepts of paradise. It will be on display at the UIMA through May 18.

Organized by Deborah Klochko for the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, "Picturing Eden" features works by 37 artists from six countries.

ArtNews called the exhibition "a striking visual display [with] many knockout images," and O magazine described it as "vivid" and "daring."

The UI Museum of Art, located on North Riverside Drive in Iowa City, is open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Admission is free. Public metered parking is available in UI parking lots west and north of the museum.

The School of Art and Art History is part of the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
