UI police seek information following weekend bomb threats

Three people with University of Iowa ties received anonymous e-mail bomb threats against university buildings Saturday night and early Sunday morning. The e-mails indicated that an incendiary device in a blue plastic bag was left on the exterior of Jessup Hall and another university building.

UI police officers assisted a bomb technician with a search of the exterior and interior of Jessup Hall and found nothing suspicious. The investigation is ongoing.

Police advise anyone who finds a suspicious item on campus to stay away from it, leave the area and call 911 immediately. Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is encouraged to call the UI Police at 319-335-5022.

Information will be posted as it becomes available.
