Moline native completes computed tomography training

Erica Waeyaert of Moline graduated Aug. 16 from the Program in Computed Tomography (CT) at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The six-month training program accepts students each fall and spring and is one of several advanced offerings in the Post-Radiologic Technology Education Program.

CT is an advanced technology that produces cross-sectional images of targeted parts of the human body using x-rays and computing. This imaging technology provides information on pathological conditions that are difficult to evaluate through conventional radiography alone. CT technologists work in various health care settings, from freestanding mobile clinics and major trauma centers to equipment sales and applications. UI Hospitals and Clinics first offered computed tomography training in 1996.
