MEDIA ADVISORY: Loebsack To Meet On Pay Equity, Host Art Contest At UI
U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, is taking part in two events on the University of Iowa campus this week, first meeting with faculty, staff and students Friday, April 27 to discuss pay equity, and on Saturday, April 28 hosting the 2nd Congressional District Art Contest.
Both events are free and open to the campus community, public and news media.
Friday’s Pay Equity Day meeting will be held at 1 p.m. in River Room 1 of the Iowa Memorial Union. Faculty, staff and students and are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion.
The 2nd Congressional District Art Contest, organized in cooperation with the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ School of Art and Art History and the UI Civic Engagement Program, will kick off with a 10 a.m. reception in the atrium of Art Building West. Winners of the contest will be announced at the reception.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Congressional Arts Competition, which was held in congressional districts across the country and is sponsored by the Congressional Arts Caucus.
The 2007 exhibition, whose theme is “An Artistic Discovery,” features exceptional artwork from high school students in all 435 congressional districts. “An Artistic Discovery” was created in an effort to recognize the creative talents of young Americans.
