Deadline For Applications To UI Summer Music Camps Is May 4

The deadline for applications to the University of Iowa Summer Music Camps is Friday, May 4. All musicians who plan to attend the camps, one of the oldest summer music camps in the United States, should be preparing their applications very soon in order to meet the deadline.

The camps, formerly known as the Iowa All-State Music Camps, have been offered at the UI since 1953. For 2007, camps are available in three one-week sessions for students in band, orchestra and chorus, as well as specialized camps in piano, percussion, jazz and musical theater.

The three sessions will be:
-- June 10-16: Large ensembles, including two concert bands, a full orchestra and a chorus, as well as an Adult Band for players ages 21 and over;
-- June 17-22: Percussion, piano and music theater camps; and
-- June 24-30: Jazz studies camp.
