The legacy of lynching in the southern United States and HIV/AIDS prevention and education in St. Petersburg, Russia, are just two of many research topics that will be on display during the University of Iowa Spring Undergraduate Research Forum Saturday, April 21, in the atrium of the Blank Honors Center on the UI campus. Opening remarks will be at 11 a.m. by UI Executive Vice President and Provost Michael Hogan and Bob Kirby, director of the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates.

Thirty-nine undergraduates from the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, the College of Engineering and the College of Nursing will present their research in poster format with viewing and discussion until 1:30 p.m.

Outstanding poster awards and participation prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. At that time, Associate Vice President for Research Richard Hichwa will recognize recipients of the 2007 Excellence in Undergraduate Research Awards, provided by the Office of the Vice President for Research.

The forum is hosted by the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates and co-sponsored by the University of Iowa Honors Program, the UI Office of the Vice President for Research, the Office of the Provost and the Graduate College.
