Monique and Alger, Lorkovic to perform on 'Java Blend' Dec. 7, 14
Typhanie Monique and Neal Alger will perform live as part of the Iowa Public Radio performance series "Java Blend," at noon Friday, Dec. 7, and Radoslav Lorkovic will play at noon Friday, Dec. 14, both at the Java House, 211 E. Washington St. in downtown Iowa City.
The public is invited to be part of the live audiences for the hourlong shows, which originate from the University of Iowa's radio station WSUI-AM 910.
Performing five years together, Typhanie Monique and Neal Alger have developed a repertoire that reflects their love of jazz, rock, and pop and rhythm and blues/soul music. The duo's latest album, "In The Room," has been accepted in the preliminary voting round for a Grammy nomination in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category. Their performance will be broadcast on Iowa Public Radio Saturday, Dec. 22, and Sunday, Dec. 23.
Born in Croatia, Radoslav Lorkovic began touring the United States at age 20 before making a solo recording debut in 1990. Influenced by a wide range of music including jazz, blues, country and soul, Lorkovic's 20-year touring career has led him from the taverns of the upper Mississippi River to Carnegie Hall. The "Java Blend" performance will be broadcast on Iowa Public Radio Saturday, Dec. 28, and Sunday, Dec. 29.

Hosted by Ben Kieffer, "Java Blend" offers an eclectic mix of live music from the vibrant independent music scene featuring artists from around the state and country. Kieffer infuses the performances with lively discussions about the artists' music and lives.
"Java Blend" is videotaped for several TV broadcasts on the UITV cable channel in the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids area. The audio version can be heard worldwide on the Internet via Iowa Public Radio stations' live Web casting.
