Gordon to discuss American and world security at Dec. 5 luncheon

Philip H. Gordon, senior fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution, will present "Winning the Right War: The Path to Security for America and the World" at a noon luncheon of the Iowa City Foreign Relations Council (ICFRC) Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Rockwood Fellowship Hall, Congregational Church, 30 N. Clinton St. in Iowa City.

An authority on the Middle East, Gordon has served as director for European Affairs on the National Security Council, senior fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, and on the faculty of Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C. His most recent book, "Winning the Right War: The Path to Security for America and the World," was excerpted in the November/December issue of Foreign Affairs magazine.

The luncheon is presented with support from Hayek, Brown, Moreland and Hayek LLP and Brandt Heating and Air Conditioning. The Cottage will cater the event. For those unable to attend, WSUI-AM will carry the program at 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 on the Iowa Public Radio network.

ICFRC is a nonprofit association of community and university people interested in learning more about the U.S. foreign policy, world affairs, and current global issues impacting world societies.
